Close-up of a cricket

Gryllidae Platygryllus are mainly surface dwellers.
They emerge to forage and mate at night. Their hearing organs are situated on their forelegs.

Would you look at those spurs? No wonder they can make such a noise with them!!
The male has a long ovipositor which he uses to transfer a sperm package to the female.
